Some things going on few people know about.

1. Fire and Police agencies across the state have already mobilized, staged people and resources and will respond in the area from state-wide as soon as possible after the storm. Sheriff deputies from as far away as Miami are ready to go.

2. Utility Companies from across the region have identified crews and equipment and are staged in safe areas at the moment ready to respond.

3. Search and rescue teams have been mobilized and staged.

4. FEMA and military assets are ready to deploy.

Just like with Ivan the panhandle isn't forgotten. We'll be there when you need us. Don't despair help is coming!

We're with you from the gals and girls in Seminole County DPS.

One FEMA team from Tampa left yesterday as an advance unit.

I don't know about anyone else, but if I were a resident of the evacuated areas, I would feel somewhat reassured by your post.

Thank you--to ALL Public Safety, Electric, Search & Rescue, Red Cross, FEMA and others who will being doing so much to help so many in the coming days (weeks).

I can tell you from so many people that were helped though Ivan, how much they appreciate it and are counting on your help. Simple things like handing out bottles of cold water made a huge impact. I know the people who are in the path and those who will be returning are comforted to know that help is on the way is so may different forms.

That's very good news,and a great big "thank-you" goes out to all who do that.I am sitting on the edge of my seat right now[when I am not pacing the floor] because I have family that have chosen not to leave. They are on Santa Rosa Beach. I just can not understand why anyone would think that "it won't be that bad" . So, I am praying for them and their hard heads to be safe . along with everyone else that will be affected by this storm. Blessings to all.

It does look goofy but it's all I could find

I drove back home to south Louisiana yesterday from a weeklong stay in Tybee Island, GA, taking a route much further north than the I-10/I-95 route I took getting over there. All along the U.S. trunk highways heading west, there were numerous National Guard batallions and regional power companies gathering manpower and machinery in staging areas from southwestern Georgia to south central Mississippi.

To say it's going to be rough for our neighbors to the east is stating the painfully obvious, but they should take some small amount of solace in knowing that many, many people are already preparing to quickly come to their aid as soon as Dennis moves out.

We have 30 people with the phone company I work for on standby to go down there from Arkansas.
