..well there is certainly a pool of 'cooler' water there near the coast but its above that 28c benchmark - Cat 5 still possible IMO with nothing to slow Dennis down too....

I just cannot imagine what this will do to this area. Many buildings are still standing--halfway...falling down....unreal. Just unreal.
Trees leaning already, ready to fall.
Many people still psyched out from Ivan. The pharmaceutical companies are gonna have a field day.
Good time to invest in Xanax stock.

Believe it or not its still.
Every now and then the screen door slams.
But its an eerie quiet.
Pitch black from the clouds but eerily quiet...
I gotta get off this thing and hide the computer.
Gotta get my butt into work.
Love ya all, thanks so much for being here and sharing the stuff you know. You'll never know how much a blessing you've been to these areas.
And all stay safe!

7AM We still got 145 Dropping pressure down to 931. This seems as possible as anything at this point. Theres no reason for him not to be cat 5. I just dont see anything hindering his development.

I went thru Charley last year and nothing is worst then wondering what it will be like to go thu this hurricane and the damages it will cause,. Just make sure you are in a safe place.

The most important thing I can think of besides your safety is make sure you have all important papers with you. They will save you lots of aggravation.

My thoughts and prayers are with you all!

With this pressure he should have cat 5 winds, considering he was borderline cat 5 near cuba at 937...interesting.

Agreed...

The only thing that might SLOW his development are cooler ocean waters...
that may slow up his development and therefore he might be CAPABLE of cat 5 strength, but he might strike land before he reaches it

Almost too late to be running for your life. With the pressure and all it's only a matter of time for him to catch up with his winds. Usually is about 6 hours so he may have enough time well have to see.

sigh... can you believe that TD 04 (Dennis) formed just 5 days ago?

seems a lot longer than that... seems like the time between each advisory is a day long...

Cat 5?

#98 Postby FloridaDiver » Sun Jul 10, 2005 7:06 am

Dennis looks a bit ragged this AM, the 6AM discussion did not mention any significant strengthening prior to landfall. My amateur guess would be that Dennis stays a CAT 4when the eye finaly crosses dry ground. The reality is, for the unfortunate who will be dealing with Dennis in a couple of hours, the difference between a CAT 4 and 5 is a mute point at this stage... :(

Looks to be taking in some dry air, as the western side is starting to break down..
