Unfortunately, we're not.
Even though I don't know that Joe B will be right, but NOLA still might see more than they expected.
I was glad to see several homes boarded up in Diamondhead this
afternoon (mine included). A lot more boarded up for this than for
Ivan. I can't say that others on the coast are as prepared.
I am afraid that a similar scenario to Charley may happen.
Even though a hurricane warning is in effect from the Pearl River
eastward, a lot of folks believe they are safe because the media keeps
saying "Pensacola", "Panama City", and worst case "Mobile".
IF Dennis jogs West into Mississippi, the outrage that occured
when Charley jogged East into Charlotte Harbor instead of Tampa
is going to take place.
And I will say "You were under a hurricane warning, what more notice
could you ask for?"

My parents say about 1/2 the homes in their Ocean Springs neighborhood are boarded up. Also, I was in Gulfport today, and most of the merchants at Crossroads were boarded up, too. The stores were closing early. Barnes & Nobles closed at 3pm. All of this was good to see.
