I see where Dennis looks all stretched out, what in the heck is causing that?

Not this again...

You'll be over 200 miles east of the eye. Have a nice wet night.

Don't worry he is still headed NW toward the MS/AL border. IMO

Dennis is not really becoming elongated SW to NE. If anything, the general area of clouds in which the storm is embedded is elongating/stretching/pointing toward the NNW. You can clearly see this shape or outline extending from the Caribbean all the way to Tennessee. This is a good indicator that the storm is not going to make any huge deviations; it shows that Dennis is clearly entrenched in some good steering currents. I don't see any way this thing turns NE before landfall. The peninsula should be spared from a landfall. The panhandle or Alabama, that's a different story.

Thanks, Huckster. for your considered opinion. Appreciate it. I was getting concerned for Appalachicola area. I have close family in Pensacola who are riding it out, so sure don't want it to go there either.

Thanks for your insight Huckster. I have not felt that Dennis would turn NE. We have already gotten hammered with rain and 45-55 mph winds this evening. I really don't care to get winds any higher than that, especially at night.... for those of you who think -removed- is going on here..... I for one do not want to see a repeat of last year what so ever. It was miserable to say the least! I just had trees trimmed to a cost of 2700.00 because where I live, that is a big threat...tornadoes and BIG trees that fall hard.

I feel awful for the folks in the panhandle... I feel awful for what I think my home state is going to have to endure~ again this year.... -removed-? not hardly...... :x

"-removed-" accusations or innuendoes really do get tiresome. I doubt anyone on this forum actually wants a Cat. 3 or 4 storm to land on their doorstep.

The fact is, that the majority of GOM hurricanes do take a wobble N and NE due to usual prevailing atmospheric conditions in the W and NW GOM.

No, it's pretty calm right now. Thank goodness -- we lost power twice this afternoon for short periods. Don't know what it will be like when Dennis reaches our latitude, but if he stays west, shouldn't be too bad.
