Now that is the type of hurricane you'd find in a textbook by definition..

This thing looks almost as good as it did when it was a Cat 4/5.

This looks as good if not better than it was before it came into Cuba. Just amazing how much it has recovered.

Just goes to show how difficult it is to forecast intensity. This morning they were saying cat 2 or 3 at landfall. At this juncture,it would not surprise me if Dennis got back to full strength befroe his Cuba landfall

There's already been a post about what appeared to be an image of an annular Dennis.

The last hurricane that was annular was way out in the Atlantic and a category 5. Anyone who is in the forecast path of this cane and anywhere close to the coast, within miles of the coast, probably needs to evacuate, and the sooner, the better.

Don't fool with mother nature. She's already fooled us twice with this storm. If you are near the coast and hunker down, you could be in for the most miserable experience of your entire life, or your life could be at peril.

I don't know the traffic patterns, but east or west evacuation might be more effective than moving to the north. But make sure you evacuate. This is an extremely serious situation, not a joke, not a drill. Just be aware, and if you aren't 100% sure that you can be safe, get away from this hurricane. If you are not absolutely certain of your safety, then you are probably in danger.

By tomorrow morning it will be to late to leave. Remember that. Tomorrow is too late. Leave tonight, the earlier the better.

Only the strongest of the strong. Annular hurricanes form a donut shape with very little else besides the eye, and a donut shape of CDO around it.

It essentially means that it is perfectly symettrical. Annular hurricanes do not vary much in strength, don't have ERC, and are generally epic. Ivan and Isabel were annular.
