Dennis Cat 4?

WOW, just heard on the tadifrom Escambia County Florida Emergency management Dennis maybe a cat 4 and it will be like Ivan as fsr as storm surge and track. Heard this information on radio station 107.3.

recent recon reports show a min pressure of 947 mb... cat 4 is 944mb
but the winds reported are still just 105mph

Dennis will likely have cat 4 pressure by the 7pm update but the winds keep lagging behind

Winds always increase after the pressure drop. Hurricanes are like turbochargers in that regard. You mash the gas, the turbo RPM's rev. up, then all of a sudden, your car takes off in a rush. That is sort of a crude comparison, but simple one that was once explained to me.

Dennis will likely reach cat 4 status at one point given the pressure drop, winds will catch up.

It is a distinct possibility it won't landfall as a 4 though, odds would probably be against it.

However, Gulf residents need to be preparing for a 4 now no matter what evolves.

The last I heard 15 minutes ago on TWC was 115 mph winds.... back to a Cat.3

Isn't this amazing? This thing is growing by the hour. The winds have gone from 90 - 115 in just hours and it's still growing.
