From this afternoons AFD..didn't want anyone here to get bored with the action dying off this afternoon.

THE ONLY CHANGE POSSIBLE FOR THIS WOULD BE
THE TROPICAL WAVE THAT IS WELL OUT IN THE ATLANTIC WHICH COULD HAVE
AN IMPACT ON OUR ZONES AT THE END. HOWEVER UNTIL THIS WAVE REACHES
THE CARIBBEAN PLAN ON IGNORING ITS IMPACT IN OUR ZONES.

Its really early but anytime we have something coming in from the west and Peurto Rico bound it would be in prime position. Long way out but more concerning to me is it July 9th and usually we don't get a thing until at least late august. If anyone in this part of the world is unprepared this season then they deserve to have problems because after last year and now all of this we have all been given more than enough warning.

We are here and we are watching. I even have generator gas, new storm panel bolts and plenty of water. I don't want to...but if I've got to I will.

Of course, my eyes are on it and I'm still keeping tabs on Dennis.

By the way, I feel that the effects we had here in NW Dade were worse for Dennis than with the other storms last year. Anyone agree? At about 3:45am last night it was howling! I feel for those in Dennis' path now. Take care all!

We definitely had more effects here than we had for any of the storms last year. We were without power for a couple hours last night, the wind has been howling since yesterday afternoon, and it has been raining off and on since yesterday.

Compared to last year with Frances, I would say the effects were just a tad bit worse, but did not last very long. During Frances, at least here in southern Broward, we had like steady 30-35mph winds and moderate rain for hours. At least that is what I remember here in the Miramar/Pembroke Pines area.

Frances definetely worse for me in terms of damage but that makes sense since Dade didn't have much and I was closer and you were closer to Big D yesterday. I suspect tomorrow afternoon will be rather active as the sun should be out and we will still be in the big tropical flow.

I think there must be like 90% S. Floridians on this board because this thread is getting more attention than many of the Dennis threads. I couldn't imagine how active this board is going to get when a major is headed into S. Florida

Yep, with Frances / Jeanne we got absolutely nothing here in Florida City. Dennis easily takes the cake for us.

Yeah I was thinking the same thing. The gulf coasters are worn out from all the tropical action this year and last, preparing for Dennis and arguing amongst themselves the last three days wether it was going 270, 290 or 310.
Seriousely, good luck to everyone up there you guys have received way more action than you deserve and our day is coming where we are under the gun so good luck from all of us down here. Someday real soon we will be in the same boat. I think everyone on this board by now has worn out the refresh button.

and it looks like INVEST 98 is reflected in several of the globals. But none of them seem to do much with it. They all track either what looks like an open wave or a weak low toward or just slightly NE of the Leeward islands. But the ones that go the farthest out (ECMWF, GFS, etc.) appear to show that the Atlantic ridge doesn't extend all the way over FL or the east coast, like it did for Dennis. As a result, if anything does develop, it could just end up going fishing. Of course, that's more than 5 days away so way too early to say anything for sure. Also, a couple globals want to develop the SECOND low pressure area/wave even farther out. And this is supposed to be mid-July??? Yikes!

There is a nice thread already going for INVEST 98 on this board with nice SAT pics and model track graphhic from the SFWMD, yep it's only July and South Floridians have aVERY long season ahead....
