After it left Cuba it has really organized rapidly and I fear more intensification will take place today.

In the Caribbean, Dennis strengthened from 105mph and 968mb (where it is now except pressure a mb higher) to 150mph and 938mb in 24 hours!
now I know that conditions were better for strengthening in the Caribbean than will be in the GOM however also Dennis strengthened this much inbetween two landmasses... I think we could see Dennis as a cat 4 by this afternoon

this wind increase was more due to Dennis coming back into gradient wind balance than anything els. Typically when a TC moves offshore, there is a sharp, sudden wind increase. Even isidore had this type of increase yet no intensification occurred afterwards.
