If you watch the radar, you'll see that all of the squalls seem to be staying south of 595, just now edging up past, and once over the everglades they seem to rocket to the north. Its really odd. I haven't seen anything but a fine mist shower (for 3 minutes) all day. Pretty windy tho.

Yeah here in miami lakes we just got sustained 40mph winds for about 2 minutes. (Davis Vantage Pro) Gusts to 58...

I am pulling out the night vision camera to take video on the next set... i'll upload it immediatly after that.

Our power keeps going on, and off... but i have cellular service on one of my laptops, so that will alloe me to post up.

BocaGirl66, were you here for Hurricane Frances or Jeanne last year? This weather is a reminder of those two storms, let's hope it isn't a warm-up. For the rest of tonight expect squalls of rain and strong gusty winds. Palm Beach County is under a tornado watch until 9:00 AM tomorrow morning so a tornado is possible. Depending on where you are and where your power lines are located, you might lose power. Be prepared with a flashlight or torch-just in case. Tomorrow will be more of the same.

It hasn't rained yet at my house. Just lots of wind. And it's really hot outside. Way too hot for 11:45 at night.

possibly gust fronts and maybe a microburst. Im not really sure about hurricane spawned thuderstorms or if they are at all similar to normal supercell dynamics but that is my guess.

Coastal Resort Cities maybe, not inland and most coastal cities.

Huh? I guess you mean "really live" as opposed to squeaking by (lots of that here in the Funshine State). One day I'm going to head north so fast that I might catch on fire. I'm getting on now, but I will get to the Dakotas or maybe Minnesota (ey?) SOME DAY and play me some ice hockey. Heck, a guy can dream, can't he? The things we endure for love! :)

The spiral banding typically leads to sufficient low level shear for supercells.

if thats the case then it likely was either a brief tornado, or a microburst.

iIt was a supercell that caused flash flooding at my house during Floyd. The cell came through before the storm even made landfall (and I live some 100 miles inland from the landfall point,) and the creek near my house was already at the bottom of the bridge (i.e. no air between water and bridge) from, ironicly enough, Dennis of 1999, before the first rain even hit from Floyd.

We lost power here in the Keys Gate area at around 8:30ish....didn't come back on for a couple of hours...and that's just with the outer bands. I have no idea what we'll get through the night, but the evening has been pretty rough so far here.
