Kinda a bummer to have to live like the rest of the world, huh? Your parents are doing the right thing, because that is the only way to learn the value of what you have, i.e. work for it. If your parents stick to that phlosophy, as you work for and purchase your own home, I guarantee you will not feel the same way about seeing everything gone. It shouldn't take a disaster to make you appreciate the things you have.

As a lifetime boat owner, I can tell you not to count on getting enough insurance money to buy a new boat. A few thousand folks here in Florida found that out. Also, if you guys ever get smacked in the mouth by a major cane, the boat will be the least of your worries.

Getting smacked by the boat would be a worry for sure.

I see what your saying traveler. Sometimes I look around and know all it takes is one storm to change your home town for the worse. It is really sad to think you work so hard and could lose it all in a matter of days. I really feel for whoever gets the brunt of this or any other storm.

I agree. Your parents are not going to be there for you forever. You got to be responsible. And once you start paying for your own way through life, paying a mortgage, etc.. You would pray will all your heart that a hurricane won't come your way instead of hoping that it does. I know he is only 15, so I am trying to cut him some slack.

Let me tell ya podnah, that is one of the most selfish things ive ever heard. Be glad and thank God we have been lucky on the upper Texas coast. Your family may have money, but there is a lot of folks out there that dont and would be destroyed by a major storm. So if you dont have any thing to add that is constructive and useful to this forum stop typing, get a job and pay your bills. Have a nice evening.

Well cajungal I understand the only 15 part, but my kids are 12 and 4, and we are not rich. They were told if a strom comes they could lose their precious toys (and they do appreciate their possetions) they actually cleaned there rooms today just in case. Can't tell you what a miricle it is to see toys not on the floor.

reeef-I'm from Galveston. You don't want to come home and see the destruction! Where were you in Allison?
And sadly I'm in Houston now on White Oak...so many friends who have sold out to have their homes torn down due to flooding.

Please...no disrespect... but don't ever wish to see what Mother Nature can do

IF it shifts west, how far west do you think it will come? Getting kind of nervous here in the Biloxi area...

You should be nervous...you are pretty much in the center of the cone.
