Bastardi FOXNews Airtime

#1 Postby tropicstorm » Fri Jul 08, 2005 9:12 pm

Joe just had 3 minutes of fame on FOX network proclaiming a more prominent westerly movement with Dennis, bringing this hurricane into the Louisiana coastline - man, he sure does stick with his predictions, right or wrong. What is his track record over the last few years?

He didn't stick with LA..... he said LA at first then yesterday and this morning said further east.... now with 6 hours of a more westward motion he says LA again.

Depends on the storm. He's good at telling you where to look for action and with certain dynamics, but he's not the greatest track forecaster. He has good ideas a lot of the time, but he can be hit and miss. He did pretty good with Isidore, Lili and was decent on Cindy (can't remember Bill) for the storms in my neck of the woods the last few seasons.

As I said in another thread, it seems with the airtime and publicity that he's putting a lot of credibility on the line. If he busts, he's toast for a while until he can pull one of his proverbial rabbits out the hat to get some back.

He's pretty good. I know a lot on this board slam him, but I think he does a good job.

He went out on a limb about a month ago and forcast
the area between New Orleans and Destin, FL would
be the most impacted this year.... That is bold!

The company hedged, but I didn't really see him do it. He stuck with his prediction in a special update yesterday, kept it on his video this morning and then his video update again this afternoon. I don't see it personally, but you need to keep the record straight. JMO.

I think he is very good at pattern recognition, he really can see how things are lining up. But after that ... not so good.....

Thats my take after watching him for the last 3 years

now THERE'S an observation for the ages. Thank goodness for that clarification. For a second, I thought TX had swapped positions with Arizona.

He is only 15. And he wants Dennis to come to Texas. With all due respect, because I don't bash anybody on this board, but still Dennis is not coming no where near Texas. If you want a hurricane, you are just going to half to wait.

A lot of energy let behind in Cuba and south. Was this the reason for Joe's westward trend? And can Dennis replace that energy?

It's interesting he would say that.

At 8:15 this morning, N.O. governor Ray Nagan and Governor Blanco were on WWL radio stating that the storm is going to Pensacola, and they are highly confident that the N.O. area has nothing to worry about. Nagan stated that he hasn't even picked up around his house.

Sure shows the range between JB and the LA officials.

And I am going with what my LA officials are saying. At this time, NO is looking pretty safe from Hurricane Dennis although I will still closely monitor the situation till he makes landfall.
