are power outages probably going to happen on....

This is the general tropical discussion area. Anyone can take their shot at predicting a storms path.

Probably not widespread... some local outages are possible as winds could be 40-50 mph.

Believe there's already been some power outages in Broward and Miami-Dade .. maybe 16,000 though I could have one too many zeros.

FPL. Weather hasn't been too great here yet, very windy, power lines really moving.

So far, so good. We've had some heavy rain bands and lightening and thunder but the wind isn't too bad yet. I'm doing laundry, cooking ahead, etc. in case we are without electricity over the weekend. If you iron, it's not a bad idea to get a few outfits ready for the coming days-just in case (I'm probably really dating myself here as I know not too many people iron anymore) LOL. Just some fun things to do on a Frday night-I have to get a life!

Looks like I didn't add an extra zero, wasn't sure what exactly Channel 4 said.

It's the only one who's actually bothering with showing the hurricane stuff nonstop.

And I think it's a good thing...not really for us in SE Florida, but because our news stations are the Keys news stations. So right now, Norcross is all they got...(assuming the other networks don't have coverage now, I don't have the TV on).

Edit for spelling and to say sorry for getting off topic....Where where we? Power outages!

So far Channel 4 is the only one showing news coverage. I would think they should run hurricane stuff due to the possible landfall in the Keys, but seems none of the other stations are really bothering

Power outages

#20 Postby dolebot_Broward_NW » Fri Jul 08, 2005 8:05 pm

3 traffic lights, (and the surrounding areas dark) along Mcnab (cypress creek) between university and Rock Island. Commercial has 4 out on the same stretch. And we haven't seen a drop of rain, just a bit of blusteriness.
