Not sure if this is where to put this but...

This link is off the BBC - reports from many in the past, present and future path of Dennis, as close to real time as possible.
If a heads up is still needed for those in the path of Dennis waffling - these stories might be a wake up call. And to those of us not in the path - a reminder to be ready.

news from mobile:
governor urged everyone in mobile and baldwin counties to leave if they can. also, the head of alabama ema, bruce baughman, identified shelters will be available in montgomery and birmingham. our local ema director indicated that local shelters should be used as a last resort. this is so scary and crazy!

No nonsense feeder bands with squalls and moderate heavy rains. Winds picking up here.

Driving back from Walmart for batteries, water, and gas I saw some ominous-looking heavy equipment outer bands moving in.

Hard blowing rain now.

Light traffic and crowds. Steady traffic off-island...

As was stated in another *new* thread...

according to WKRG... ALL of Mobile County and those parts of Baldwin county south of I-10 are under mandatory evacuations which go into effect 6 a.m. tomorrow.

The above statement is substantiated by NBC 15 in Mobile, who are reporting that over 500,000 people have been ordered to evacuate.

Outer bands with moderate bursts of rain. Winds minimal. Frogs and toads on street. Light waves, hardly anything...

Getting reports now of flooded roads in Collier County.

These would be....

Highway 29 north of US 41
US 41 east of Highway 29
Janes Scenic Drive
Wagon Wheel Road
Loop Road

Be careful!

* Just heard from WKRG that everything is pretty much closing down in the Mobile area later today. If you have not made all your preparations, you need to do so ASAP.
