NWS TPC/NATIONAL HURRICANE CENTER MIAMI FL
310 PM EDT FRI JUL 08 2005

REPORTS FROM THE CUBAN METEOROLOGICAL SERVICE AND CIVIL DEFENSE
THROUGH HAM RADIO OPERATORS INDICATE A WIND GUST TO 149 MPH
OCCURRED AT CIENFUEGOS CUBA AROUND 130 PM EDT. MORE THAN 85 PERCENT
OF THE POWERLINES WERE DOWN AND EXTENSIVE DAMAGE HAS OCCURRED TO
THE COMMUNICATIONS INFRASTRUCTURE.

Ahh the 149 mph gust was before the eyewall go there it seems, as it was 2 hours ago. Man the city is probably flattened :(

Yes, the hard eyewall went right over Cienfuegos.

The coastal city of Trinidad took the landfalling 150mph eyewall and is probably much worse.

Last night an intensifying Dennis ran his NE quadrant lengthwise across the low-lying Keys of Jardinas de la Reines. I'd expect casualties.

The south coast of Cuba had Dennis go lengthwise along it and should be pretty damaged.

Dennis should re-emerge somewhere near Matanzas on the north coast - or even Varadero....
