Its rainwater. It is not uncommon for Duval St to flood with heavy rains, particularly the rains KW has gotten thus far today.

Its a shame some of the other cams are not working...the Southernmost cam would give us a good idea of the tides and surge.

That's a testament to the size of this system.

Flooding in Key West from outer rainbands and the storm itself is well southwest of there, making landfall in Cuba.

Key West Int'l is about 3' above sea level

Duval St. is about 5' above sea level

The highest point in KW is about 18' above sea level

As you can see, the town gets in trouble when it rains...

As an aside, I used to always get a kick out of snowbirds who would ask me if the house had a basement or a well....I guess it is hard to comprehend that if you dig a hole 3' down you are hitting seawater.....

Everything looks pretty secure. All the shop windows are covered. Not many tourist around :)

I checked the cam like 20 minutes later and all the water was gone!

Pretty fast drainage they have there.

Things are starting to blow around good there. Already a piece of what looks like palm in the street. Funny thing is that there are guys riding around on bicycles right now.
