With it moving NW... it really doesn't change things. Wait for the 2pm position before everyone freaks. I don't see it being 100 miles east of the NHC... maybe off a little, but under 50. It's wobbling around.

cone of error

#22 Postby RichG » Fri Jul 08, 2005 11:51 am

It is clearly on edge of the northern cone of error track. This is why NHC should dispense with the line and stick with the cone only.

This I agree with 100%, problem is, its horrible for verification. They need to know how close they got to verify models and all the other stuff.

cheers,

Landfall

#32 Postby jasons2k » Fri Jul 08, 2005 12:07 pm

Looks like it is doing what Joe B. said it would as soon as it got close to land. It will have a hard time going in for awhile.

No.

WHILE SOME WOBBLING HAS OCCURRED...AS IS TYPICAL OF A MAJOR
HURRICANE...DENNIS IS EXPECTED TO CONTINUE MOVING TOWARD THE
NORTHWEST NEAR 15 MPH...24 KM/HR. ON THIS TRACK...THE CENTER SHOULD
MAKE LANDFALL ALONG THE SOUTH-CENTRAL COAST OF CUBA THIS AFTERNOON.

Last I checked... it's afternoon.

Yesterday at 5pm:

For 2pm today: 24HR VT 08/1800Z 22.3N 80.5W 95 KT...INLAND

Very close to where it's going to be:

At 5am this morning for 2pm today:

12HR VT 08/1800Z 22.0N 80.7W 120 KT...INLAND

Again... very close.

Here we go again. It all comes down to this: If you live in Florida, then the storm is east of the predicted track, or it is jogging more north. If you live anywhere else, it is the opposite. This is so predictable, its hillarious.

This is the area where Dennis has made it's second landfall

Looks like a fairly populated (and beautiful) area :(

Edit: Trinidad has a population of 77,000 people.

BTW, if of course the track is consistent, it has some pretty high terrain to cross through at first, then its gets mostly flat for the rest of the trip.

It looks like the eye is going to cross into land right here. I have a feeling we're going to see a lot of boats on hillsides in a few days and they may end up with a much larger mouth to their little bay.

Amazing Picture Gorky!!!...did not know Google had that feature...how do you access that part of Google?....and yes I agree that it seems to be moving on a much more northward path than the models were predicting
