Nice pic! I can only imagine the kinds of devastating video we will be seeing out of Cuba once Dennis moves on. Poor people.

Landfall this soon does not bode well for Florida. Hope he weakens considerably.

Amazing is def the right word. What do you mean by landfall this ealry doesnt bode well for florida? You mean its moving more north northwest than expected correct?

I'm pretty sure the definition of landfall states that the eye (center of it) must cross the coast - it looks to me as if only the eyewall is there now. Not sure though...hmm...

Lets see if he moves over Cuba here or continues to skirt the coast. I sure hope he moves over here and weakens considerably.

Didnt NHC have it making landfall a lot closer to Bay of Pigs. It appears to me to be about 100 miles east of there.

IMO this cannot go anywhere but FL.

PCB, FL Cat 2 was original prediction. Ill stick with location, not intensity.

actually if you look at the NHC track Dennis is going to make land fall some 50 miles further east than where they have it going in

WHILE SOME WOBBLING HAS OCCURRED...AS IS TYPICAL OF A MAJOR
HURRICANE...DENNIS IS EXPECTED TO CONTINUE MOVING TOWARD THE
NORTHWEST NEAR 15 MPH...24 KM/HR. ON THIS TRACK...THE CENTER SHOULD

Very close to where it's going to be:

12HR VT 08/1800Z 22.0N 80.7W 120 KT...INLAND

Again... very close.

Intensity is off... but, it was supposed to be inland. It's actually still pretty far southeast of that right now.

At 5am this morning for 2pm today:

12HR VT 08/1800Z 22.0N 80.7W 120 KT...INLAND

Current location: 21.4 N 79.9 W. Again... southeast of that.


Hrm, wow Brent, my bad, I was thinking he was on track, didn't realize he was a bit low still...thanks for the info...

Well maybe, maybe not but it's close. Looks to me like the center is still offshore barely, part of the eyewall appears to be onshore though.

However the Key West radar still shows the center offshore:

And maybe even doing a little jog (there's that word again) back to the wnw, probably from interaction with the land.

Comparing and overlaying the nhc track for 11am adv and the sat pick from this topic it is def about 50-100 miles east of where they had it touching land and crossing. So we'll have to see how this plays out.

Dennis may be south and east of last night 11 adv and this mornings 5 adv, but it appears as if Dennis is going to make landfall east of todays 11 adv
