Bob Breck letting Louisiana people off guard
I watched Bob Breck last night and I became very upset. He is telling our viewers that we are out the woods and that is going to Florida. No need to worry. Well, I was not at all surprized that the models trended back to the west when I woke up this morning. Now, I trust the NHC with all my heart. They do an awesome job! But, Louisiana is definitly not out the woods until Dennis gets close to landfall. 2 models have it going over MS. And I have family who live in MS and I would be worried about them. Bob Breck is the same man who screamed at us that if we did not leave Terrebonne Parish during Lili we were all going to die. By then, it was too late, the roads where already closed.

But Bob has VIPIR!
Just remember, Bob is to Nash as Satan is to God, or Buddy D was to real sports journalism. Seriously, Bob Breck is an idiot, and most people know that. He's fun to watch, however, for his bad hair and idiotic statements. For example, he said last night something like we're not trying to alarm anyone or get them excited. The next words out of his mouth were "the reason we're getting everybody excited...."

John Gumm on ch.4 said it's rediculous to use vipir this far out as it's really only reliable at 6 hours.
Also, do any of you remember the catastrophe with Bob Breck with Hurricane Juan in the 80's. It did cost him his job for a while. I would think he would be more careful to make such an idiotic statement when the storm hadn't entered the gom yet. He's changing his story today and has placed us back in the bone. I suddenly feel like a scoop of ice cream.

Especially if evacs have already started along the coast... I think it's foolish of him to confuse the people with mixed messages
Everybody doesn't have access to the internet, so local news is all they have of knowing what's going on, and if folks like Bob Breck are giving mixed signals when it's clear that evacuations are going on just to be on the safe side...

b/t/w - Bernard is staying with us until Dennis is inland.
I saw that too, sunny. It will be interesting to see what happens to that low.

Good, at least I know it's not just because of my panic!!
Gas lines are getting long, y'all. I just went to fill up and the lines are forming.

I assume you mean Plaquemines PARISH & not Plaquemine, LA above Baton Rouge. Anytime a hurricane skirts around the northern Gulf of Mexico, Plaquemines PARISH is vulnerable & usually sustains some type of damage. No TV station reported the damage from CINDY. They did report the damage from IVAN. People also seem to forget that while Camille didn't hit N.O. it did hit middle/lower Plaquemines Parish & did considerable damage. People lost homes. All you read or hear about is what Camille did to Mississippi. Local Mets need to be more attuned to the area that protects N.O. in hurricanes and that is Plaquemines Parish.

IF he indeed sais Louisiana was in the clear last night - I did not see him, so I did not hear this first hand - he should resign. That is
grossly irresponsible. People are basing life and death decisions on what
he says, and he has a big audience paying attention to every word
he says.
I've said for two days straight that everyone east of Texas needs to be ready, and Texas needs to keep a close eye on Dennis.

He did say it. My sister called me and said he had taken NO completely out of the cone, for everyone to go on with their "fun plans".

Yesterday Breck said LA was in the clear, but don't cancel your hotel reservations in case an evacuation was needed. He said if you have vacation plans to go to the beaches wait a day and go the next day. Then he said, of course, assuming the beaches are still there. He was almost giddy. Very, very in appropriate considering just the day before yesterday, he took out his little VIPIR & showed us DENNIS was going to directly impact S.E.LA.
