How will this affect the track??

This is the general tropical discussion area. Anyone can take their shot at predicting a storms path.

Kevin,

In my view, the important features that will impact or are impacting Dennis will be/are:

• the low over the Yucatan might promote some increase in shear later in the period should it strengthen. That could cap Dennis' strength prior to U.S. landfall, though major hurricane landfall appears likely.

• Ridging over the Southeast U.S. That could expand somewhat to the west helping keep Dennis away from the Florida Peninsula.

• The boundary you note might also tend to promote some increase in shear near the end of Dennis' trek to landfall. It is not likely to be sufficiently strong to dramatically recurve Dennis.

Right now, the computer guidance still maintains a strong hurricane prior to landfall.

Hey kevin its me here :) I understand your and all sw fl residents concern. It looks way too close for comfort. I have ruled out a pennisula hit but just how close off shore will he go? Thats my concern.
