NWS and Child Abduction Emergency

#1 Postby azskyman » Wed Jul 06, 2005 6:49 pm

Maybe I have missed it before, but today when I just got home and wanted to check on updates for Cindy and Dennis, I noticed that the NWS home page (the map of all the warnings, watches, etc) shows a Child Abduction Emergency on the map...and if you click on the item, it gives more details.

I think this is a great extension of the Amber alert system...and makes it even more likely for a suspect to be apprehended quickly.

Let's hope this one in San Diego plays out with a happy ending.

It's about time...especially in the present abduction-rape-murder environment. :larrow: MORE online services should add Amber Alerts to their menus.

I think it was in the bill Congress passed a few months back... named after one of the kids kidnapped and murdered. :( I just have noticed it recently. They also scroll them on the TV stations in a given state(at least here).

road signs

You know those big signs over the highways in big cities that tell you if there's a big traffic jam ahead, etc? I saw Amber Alerts on a bunch of those out here in the NW when Dylan and Shasta Groening disappeared from Idaho.

We also have those, and I have seen them in use. It helps that they can use all sorts of mediums to let people know that a child is missing.
