South FL Not in Cone but Suddenly Under a Hurricane Watch

I don't understand how most of S. Florida was out of the cone and now suddenly under a hurricane watch as of 11:00am :eek:

A hurricane is not a point - it is a large swath.

The eye may stay 100 miles offshore, but the NE quad will rake south florida if that happens, and the NE quad is he second worst part of the storm, next to direct landfall from the eyewall. The majority of the wind and weather is in the NE quad.

Only the Keys is in a hurricane watch. Dade County is under a tropical storm watch.
