Big Pine Key
I live in between Key West and Marathon. Do you guys really think this Hurricane will hit the keys? Shoould I make plans to evac? What intensity do you think it would be if it hits the Keys?

I think you need to follow what the Monroe Cty. folks are telling you. Currently, everything from Marathon south is in the NHC's cone of potential, so there is the chance that it could come your way. Please follow their advice as this could be a ver dangerous storm for y'all there in the Keys, even us here on the mainland. You'll know more by the 2pm and 5pm advisories.

It is not mandatory for everyone....
Besides, most Conchs will ride it out regardless.
Only the original poster can make the decision whether to stay or go. That decision needs to be based upon the forecast, as well as his/her hurricane preps....food, water, proper shelter, etc.
FWIW, my father is in KW and he is staying. He will put up his shutters and ride it out like usual.

Very true - most Conch residents have been through this before and they're comfortable staying with the proper precautions. It is definitely up to the individual to decide as we don't know the person's circumstances.
