Interesting scenario... Perdido Key, FL vs Lafayette, LA

#1 Postby crazycajuncane » Wed Jul 06, 2005 11:41 pm

My best friend is headed back to Perdido Key, FL (we went May 31st - June 6th) and this time I can't go cause I hurt my knee the last time we went and had it scoped this past week. So, I get to sit at home while he goes back to Perdidio Key, FL. He is leaving Saturday and staying till next Friday.

UNLESS.... Hurricane Dennis heads towards the Florida Panhandle.

Now he's got a choice to make, but he has till Saturday to figure it out. If he does go to Peridio Key I was telling him.. let's say Dennis heads to New Orleans...he'll run into traffic problems. It looks like his vacation is headed for disaster. If it's headed more to Lafayette he said he plans to go to Perdido Key. In that case he'll be gone and I'll be here or evacuating (depending on the strength). Interesting scenario for the both of us.

ah yet another Lafayette resident surfaces.
There seem to be al ot of us Cajuns here :)
There will be plenty of itme between when the storm hits around the keys to when it could possibly swing our way, but I was also htinking about whether Perdido key might be closed off in the event it is hard hit. Certainly its much safer to be inland in Lafayettethan out on a Florida key.
Of course, we evactuated north to Natchitoches last itme...

Crazycajuncane, I am in this same situation . I am leaving for Sanibel Island, Florida Friday morning and have thought about all the different scenarios. We decided just to go ahead and go and see what happens. Although now I am frustrated about getting in the evacuation traffic in the panhandle Fri as everyone trys to leave.
