Mississippi Coastal Residents
When are you all going to start preparing (other than the usual supplies) and what is everyone going to do?

preparation.....
I'm not on the coast, but about 50-60 miles inland (Hattiesburg). I'm going to wait until Friday evening to make any serious preparations. My parents live 20 miles inland of the Alabama Coast and after seeing what Ivan did as a cat 3 everyone should be ready to go no later than Friday evening on the coast. If you don't have a generator and you can afford one..... buy it NOW. Those things will be long gone as soon as warnings come out. I almost never found one for my parents.

Same. It's still a LOOONNGGG way off and, as often stated, "[t]he safest place to be is at the end of an NHC 5 day forecast track".
If it's looking the same around Sunday evening, I'll start boarding up, so that's a long waaaay off.

Generators....
What happens is the Lowes and Home Depot stores take them off the shelves on the inland stores and move them to the coast. If you have friends and family close, keep an eye out and the stores will get more. Today Home Depot had several portables all the way to 15 kW but they'll get moved to some coastal area by Friday.

You're right. I didn't get a good look at the time/location forecast. Predawn Sunday morning ought to be plenty early enough. I just have a LOT of big windows to board and I'd absolutely want to avoid it if possible.
