#1 Postby Cookiely » Wed Jul 06, 2005 6:30 pm

Is the very tiny dot an eye or do I have a dirty computer screen.

Hard to tell... I do see it but it's so tiny.

Kind of looks like a shadow from a low angle of the sun.

I think one is imminent. It has established its hurricane structure. I don't think it'll get ragged anymore.

It looks like a shadow on the top of a building thunderhead.

Agree with Tim. You're seeing covective top that has shot a little bit above others. The sun is setting, so the top is casting a long shadow. That long shadow is a dark spot that looks like an eye.

That's possible. Guess we've have to wait for IR to show it with it about sunset.

I do expect an eye by tomorrow though...

I think its an eye trying to form. You can see and track it for about 4 frames...

An eye would also show up in the same location on infrared satellite as a warm spot. I haven't checked. Is it showing up as one?

Shortwave IR does not indicate one yet as of last view.

An eye will begin to appear on visible (well, unless its dark of course :)) before it appears on IR. At least thats what I noticed in the past. I guess it takes time for the eye to warm as it forms. Those huge thundertops are a sure sign of a healthy system. He definitely seems to be establishing a central dense overcast and becoming more symmetrical every frame. Isnt it a bit early for a monster in the works? :grrr:
