I'll bet a more N component in the near future!!

This is the general tropical discussion area. Anyone can take their shot at predicting a storms path.

One of our local mets says: "I think if the storm accelerates it might actually help spare us. Otherwise a storm moving at 15 mph with a gradual slowing will likely take the track further west (not good)."

yes it could have some signifince, if it gets over land at a slower speed, say Cuba it will be there longer, and then it will kinda break up the storm a little bit. But then it will have more time over warm water, which could make the storm grow and strengthen.

Western Cuba is pretty flat. It wouldn't have the negative impact on the storm that a track in Central or Eastern Cuba would have.

It will be nice to get the recon data this evening.
Looks like Dennis is starting to spin up and slow down his forward speed.
Right track changes often occur with intensification.

Yea..let's see, I wonder where you think it's going to go...TEXAS?? lol...everyone somehow thinks it's going to just go to their states..especially the Floridians and Texans. Floridians post stuff saying it looks like it's turning North, Texans post stuff saying it's going westward again...it's all practically just your interpretation of the facts and graphics that can be interpreted both ways with an un-proffesional eye, like almost ALL of us, including myself are.

I think we should get someone non-partisan to post their thoughts....someone from say...Omaha, Nebraska or Idaho for that matter. ALl in all I just don't see a Texas storm out of this, I'm thinking anywhere from New Orleans to Panama City will be the most in danger of a direct hit...but that's just another opinion in this huge ocean of them.

No offense Kevin but you've been doing the same thing for two days - arguing against the west movement.

I haven't been arguing against west movement, i've been arguing against everyone in Texas sure it's going to hit them, and now against some other Floridians sure it's going to come right up the center of the state. Also in my previous post I never said I thought it was beginning a turn north, which I don't believe it is. I'm not trying to sound snotty or stuck up or smarty pants....but I SIMPLY do not see how a Texas landfall is imminent....

Kevin Cho

I don't see how any landfall is imminent...its still 5 days out...or so....atleast 4...

Do you really need to know 6 days out if you are going to get nailed by a big one?

I just want this storm to pull northward to agree with my oringinal projection.

The more northern component could show that the ridge is having a minimal effect on it's strengthening. Could it have a minimal effect on its path too? We'll see, jeez. :x

It's obviously moving westward and so are the forecasted tracks. I never disagreed with that, what i've always disagreed with was the first day this became a Storm, out of the blue, before the models were predicting a S. Florida landfall, people over in Texas started posting a huge amount of threads saying it's a Texas storm....and they have continued since then and will until this storm makes landfall.

Kevin Cho

I heart you, Kevin. I think when this is all over that we Floridians should meet up with the Texans somewhere neutral, like Ohio, and have drinks (I will buy you a shirley temple) because lately it's been like "West Side Story" between posters from two states.

Joe Bastardi says it will end up in Denver, so I don't know how impartial the Nebraska posters will be considering they will be arguing that JB has it too far west.

Kevin I don't mean to be confrontational...I guess I have noticed the same thing you have and it's frustrating on both sides.

I think we all just want to know where it'll end up, that's all.

;)

And Kevin, I will bring the martini's since I will need a few once this is all sorted out. :)

here comes the more northerly turn...last few hours are pretty evident that it is making the WNW turn.
