Dennis will pass just south of Jamaica.

and not north of the island between Jamaica and Cuba as shown in the latest forecast tracks. When looking at the latest visible loops, overlay the forecast plots and he is already south of where the plots show him to be. He is moving too fast and will pass just south of the island. The latest visible loops show this clearly.

I agree. The ridge is holding strong and will keep this mostly on a w/wnw track.

I just do not see a 290 heading right now. It is more like 275-280. What are your thoughts.

MAYBE NOT THE INTENSITY OF GILBERT...BUT GILBERT WAS FORECASTED TO MAKE A TURN ....AND IT NEVER DID.

Quite a few people said that the TS will go south of Jamaica over the past few days. The experts and models don't seem to agree. It looks as thought it's just about to run out of time if would actually do that. It will be interesting to see what the next NHC track will do.

I think you guys are just looking at the convection and assuming movement. Do not be fooled by the look of the convection. NHC are not stupid, they have been calling for this track for a while now and all the time, ppl in here are saying no way. Well it has gained latitude like they called, and even though its not garanteed, I would put my money on th NHC track in the short term.

PS i think it is right on track to pass very close to the north coast of Jamaica.

Agreed...even if it passes over Jamaica, your not talking a huge change from NHC track. Now if it passes 150 miles south of the island, all bets are off.

I will be the first to admit, I was wrong, but I dont see it going south of the island.

Not directly toward anybody particular, but it doesn't need to turn to go north of Jamaica; it's already on a heading so that it will move along the north coast of Jamaica if it stays on a straight line. Careful not to misjudge the location of the center. :)
