Flooding rains and lightening here in SW Alabama ( Mobile)

#1 Postby Guest » Wed Jul 06, 2005 3:37 am

Check out the rainfall rate for one hour, upwards of 4 to 5 inches and hour. Looks like a solid column of water falling outside. Major flooding occuring in my neighborhood and we are on higher ground in west Mobile.

The power just flickered here in western Mobile County. If we make it through the next 15-20 minutes with power, I think we'll be all right.

woke me up! there's more lightning in this one than i remember in any other tropical storms! lights kepp flickering and it sounds like rain is being tossed at us by buckets!! local news just said it's coming down at a rate of 2-3 inches per hour. and the isolated tornadoes have started for us. tropical storms can be just as scary as Cat 4s, y'all...

it's calmed down a bit here, though still raining pretty good and gusty every now and then. however, local news said that we'd be getting the bulk of it in a little while as the center will likely pass just to our west and northwest. Round 1 over... round 2 starting????

Here in Springhill, it is finally slowing down as far as rain, but the lightning in the past hour was NUTS for a tropical system(I remeber lightning with Georges' eyewall). Never really got to windy. I guess I am going to have to go get supplies later this week for Dennis. i am not fighting store lines. And after Ivan I am sure these people wont be messing around. Looks as though the Apalachicola to say, Mordan City will get Dennis, with Mobile/Pascagoula/Biloxi in the bullseye...or at least they are now.
