Looks like a couple models are beginnig to pick up on something and diverge north, into the Florida panhandle. I'd have to say landfall will be in about the same exact spot as Ivan. I hate to say it.

I wonder though if it's more fearcasting than wishcasting in the case of a potential bomb like Dennis. I.e. pessimists will always assume the worst (like I do).

I dunno...It's just i've noticed alot of Texas residents sticking to the their words saying they expect a landfall somehwere in Texas or near Texas...I just don't see how that can be scientifically proven very likely at all....

Ohhh...I was looking at the more recent ones which picked N Central/Central Gulf Coast. oops :D

My Wishcast...

#51 Postby birdwomn » Wed Jul 06, 2005 5:30 am

I WISH Dennis would go to Texas/ Mexico as a cat 1 or less...(or actually become a fish), and I will continue to HOPE for that. That said, it is sure looking like Dennis is heading for the Pensacola/Mobile area at the moment. :(

no wishing here in the panhandle..........just looking at the models and all, looks like Dennis will be in this area. I posted last night between gulfport,ms to destin,fl. That puts the Mobile/Pensacola area in the middle. All we have is time over the next few days to see what happens. Time will tell.

I don't wish a major hurricne on anybody. We sure don't want it either, of course. But, I just hope behind hope, that it leaves Florida alone. These poor folks just started getting their beaches back in shape ready for the tourist season. Some are not even back in their homes yet. Pensacola still has lots of debris still left. I have a bad feeling that he may get close to Pensacola again. 2 models, however have it pointing towards us in Louisiana. Our mets seems very concerned, because it is still uncertain what is going to happen.

I am certainly not going to say TX is in the clear (that would be stupid and show complacency on my part). But in my little amateur opinion, it all depends upon his speed and path before crossing Cuba. It looks to me like (and this is based on gut and a few years of watching...nothing more) if Dennis passes along the NE coast of Jamaica and crosses Cuba anywhere east of the western tip, he'll most likely continue to curve up towards an area between NOLA and Biloxi. However, if he crosses southwest of Jamaica and/or beyond the western tip of Cuba, I'll have to work on finalizing my evac plans.

I'd say, Apalachicola... Somewhere between Gulf Pines Ct. and Lee St...near the Johnson's house...and about 10 feet west of their dock... Approximately.

Dennis will go West of the Keys by 50 miles. Landfall between Pensacola and New Orleans. Winds 100-110 MPH.
