Steve
My lights are flickering on and off right now.

Still storming very heavily in eastern New Orleans with serious wind gusts. Lost power for a couple minutes but its back up. I think New Orleans didn't pay enough attention to this storm expecting the NE turn. Fast food places (etc.) was still up an running as the first strong squalls was rolling into the area and I noticed many people at bus stops around 9:30 PM. Still don't expect serious problems, but would feel better if everybody was indoors.

I sure didn't expect it to be this severe. I am in St Bernard.

I ask...are we sure this wasn't a minimum hurricane?
New Orleans isn't exactly on the coast, so allowing for some land friction a 75mph storm would only produce 60 mph in the city....which is close to what I am seeing. I just watched a tree across my backyard fall on my neighbors house.
I ain't scared for my life or anything like that...but this sure the hell wasn't what I was expecting when the met said 30-40 mph winds in the city!

Cho,
That's how it was for Tropical Storm Isidore. We didn't get a drop of rain, but 50 miles to the east of US was soaked.
Looking at the radar today we didn't get a drop of rain today or yesterday. We had been getting rain everyday before that. Cindy brought us very dry weather here on the west side. Go out 120 miles to the east side of Cindy... different story.
