I think Cindy has a small chance to reach hurricane strength before landfall based on how well she looks on satellite. IMO

Don't think so.

NHC won't upgrade if it does most likely. No hurricane advisories and its only a 5 mph difference.

Dennis will be our first cane.

She very well might, especially if she continues on this turn to the NNE where she would pass over very marshy SE LA and then get back over warm water before landfalling near MS/AL.

She may very well, but time is running out fast.

I still can't believe the NHC has basically concluded that no matter what,
this will not make 75MPH. They didn't do that for Arlene.

If it's a huriricane, they need to label it such, as soon as they know. The people in the path need to know it's reached hurricane status, if merely so they can hunker down more than already. Correct information, even if not what you wanted to hear, is always better then keeping people in the dark "for their own safety."

I'm assuming that was directed towards Steve Lyons, not towards Rocketman?

If it was for R-man, then there's no need for that. R-man could be reading threads later than you and in a different order. Maybe he hadn't seen where anyone else posted that the speed was up to 70 mph. There are a gazillion threads going on anyway since people continue to...ahem...create new ones rather than continue on one that's already been created about the topic.

If it was for Lyons, a simple "duh" would suffice. And make sure you're clear who you're directing it towards.
