Starting New Threads

#1 Postby southerngale » Mon Jul 04, 2005 1:51 pm

A new thread every 5 seconds. Look, I just did another one! 8-)

Let's "try" to find a thread where our post will go before starting new threads please. Of course there will be new ones, but that will keep some of the good threads from falling too fast.

Thanks!

I agree... I go away for 5 minutes and there's a whole page of new stuff to wade through. It's getting out of hand...

I agree. It is hard responding to a certain subject when there are new ones every couple of minutes about something that was posted hours ago

I agree southerngale. I can't follow this forum anymore...i've just about given up on it as everyone has to start a new thread. And now i'm getting confused about which storm is which since people have already named the storms instead of going by the nhc official name.

Yep... I'm starting to confused on that and I've been watching both systems for 2 days now.

Concur. Most times when a storm spins up I stop coming to the boards because they just move too darn fast. But I understand that it is a product of the excitement and such, so what do you do?

Go with the flow, hang on tight, and realize that once everything's said and done, things will once again settle into the same old "slow" routine. Fortunately, because this is the world's BEST tropical discussion board, these types of circumstances are inevitable. Personally I'm having a blast looking at everyone's opinions - no matter where they may be placed!! But I'm also taking care to ensure my own personal enthusiasm does not add needless threads to the masses.

I agree with all of what you've said. I fail a lot on the last one though, but I try to keep it in already-established threads. Even though I might take a break I always return.

Because, after all, Storm2K is my tropical crack.

As a lurker, I have to agree it's quite annoying when the same person starts a new thread with the same topic 5 times a day.

I guess some people just don't pay attention.

I appreciate you guys addressing this! :D

We also ask this for very selfish reason as well! It is very hard for Mods to keep up with all the threads and trying to consolidate them......bottom line is WE need YOUR help with this by doing what Southerngale has suggested.

I never tend to make new posts, because it clogs up the system and it takes me forever to weed through the psots

Furthermore, please don't "bump" posts by typing nothing more than "Bump" or "Bumping this for more replies." Offer a substantial reply to previous posts within the thread or offer something new to the thread that pertains to the topic.

Just because a thread has slid lower on YOUR index page does not mean it's lower for the rest of us. It's difficult enough keeping up with threads in the busy part of the season. But it's even more difficult to do when we have to click open a thread that we just read a few minutes ago, expecting to read a new post, only to find nothing more than "Bump."
