It does look a little better within the last hour or so than it had been looking. We shall see what the next few hours bring.

There is some, but not nearly as much as overnight. I believe it's lessening also.
Just checked the upper-level wind analysis again, and there's definitely no significant shear issue, nor do I anticipate shear being a major factor as this moves NNW across the Gulf.
Unfortunately, I don't see anything to impede development here.
