It's awfully early, but the models certainly do indicate that this wave will become something far more significant.

Where do you think the center will be? The new blob of convection or to the east?

Man! Comparing the wave to Gilbert in the first week of July is quite a stretch. Let's remember Gilbert was one of the most powerful hurricanes in recent memory. I believe it set a record for lowest barometric pressure observed.

Maybe he's trying to outbeat is prediction last week of a hurricane being in the gulf this week? (that's if TD3 amounts to anything)

Yep...

I'll eat the computer if TD 3 gets anywhere REMOTELY close to Gilbert... even below 950 mb(much less 888 MB!!!) I think is highly unlikely.

I don't believe he's talking about TD3. I believe he's talking about the eastern Carribean wave. There's no way TD3 would get that strong.

Yep...

I don't forsee that either with TD 4. Maybe 950 mb isn't such a stretch in that case however. Certainly no Gilbert, not this early.

Hmmm...me don't know that. Remember the conditions are almost 1 month ahead of schedule this year. So it's like the first week of August rather than July.

The only bad thing against the wave is that s moving at 25 mph, if it doesn't slow down it will be very hard to develop a surface circulation.

Gilbert had the lowest pressure ever in the Atlantic basin in 125 years of records. No storm has been sub-900 mb since.

Well, yea....so this is an EXTREMELY bold statement to make. I agree, it may get strong, but to break records? Wow

JB tries to hype up everything. Make people panic when it is not neccessary. The wave does look impressive however. David Bernard did mention it. It said it could get in the Gulf later this week. He said it will be the next thing to worry about for us. David Bernard is leaving for Miami with a bang! He even said he is amazed how many have affected the gulf so early in the season. David Bernard loves his city and his people. He is a great meterologist and we will be greatly missed. He may be working for Miami soon, but he will always look out for his New Orleans people.
