What Local Baton Rouge Met Said...

#1 Postby CYCLONE MIKE » Sun Jul 03, 2005 10:20 pm

Just said watching TD3 closely gave the exact same forecast as NHC with track and intensity. Said do not think it will make hurricane strength and gave us 60% chance of rain tues-thurs morning. Very by the book. None of his own thoughts.

MIke,
Which met?? I usually don't even bother watching them as they always give the straight NHC line.

Tim,
it was Scott Oswalt (correct spelling)? on channel 7. I normally don't pay much attention either because they are like parrots, repeating everything the nhc says. Yes he used the exact nhc line with intensity and times on graph. Much better info and ideas on this site.

Actually I have. Went to Hopedale last weekend and the one before. Brought home about 30 specks and two really nice reds. Went for specks, but finished the day off looking for reds due to storms.

Actually I was down there Saturday morning first thing fishing in North Lake. Fished for about an hour found the specks, no reds. All of sudden storm came from nowhere hauled butt out of there. Then went on to hopedale that afternoon. I just think the Hopedale/Delacroix area is so easy to fish. Even my wife likes to go becasue she can catch specks with no problem.

Hey Tim, btw going to Sanibel Island Friday.for vacation . Bringing the boat and planning to give their reds and specks a try in the back bays of the island. Timing is everything though. That wave near the islands is really concerning me . Looks like it could develop anytime. I guess we will see come the end of the week.

I hate Baton Rouge news for just that reason, they only repeat the nhcc. Pat Shingleton blows off everything like it's no big deal. If you want real news, watch Ch 4. news with Dave Bernard and J.Gumm.

I dunna..along the gulf coast, you would think the TV Mets should be more concerned and not just parrot the NHC word for word.

Tim, I was wondering if I should bring my LA redfish baits with me. You know the deadly duds, cocahoe and split tail beetles. Everything I have red says they catch them on bass spiiner bait type rigs.

I only know that Fla. redfishing is not repeat not what we are used to. I have watched a number of shows where they were catching 18-20 inch fish and getting all excited and talking about how huge they were. I also know that the duds(terror tails) esp. with a spinner blade absolutly kill the fish in Miss and Ala because the fish don't see many of them I guess. Fla. is kind of a different animal though but I would think that if they work here they should work there.
