Wow, I had to comment on the overall look of the tropics today. Deep convection abounds even with dry air in the deep tropics. 96L looks great this morning and to know that it could make TD before hitting the Yucatan is impressive. Can't wait for recon to give us the scoop!

Then there is the wave east of the islands. It has really grown and was even worth a mention on the TWO. So- let's assume that both systems develop somewhere down the road- that's 4 named storms before August 1- and yet it is only July 3 and even more energy is emerging from Africa. Once again, we might be set up with a lot more than we bargained for. Could it finally happen that we use all 21 names up? I would like to see that- even if most were just ocean dwelling hurricanes, that's ok too. If we're going to have a blockbudter season, let's break a modern record of using up all 21 names and then having to use "Alpha" for the 22nd named storm. That would be cool and I would take that over 6 hurricane landfalls anytime.

Can you imagine,

"HURRICANE DELTA IS NEARING THE LOUISIANA COAST NEAR THE MISSISSIPPI DELTA, WEATHER CONDITIONS SHOULD CONTINUE TO WORSEN OVER THE NEXT 24 HOURS...."

My prediction is 10/6/3, I made it by consulting the great oracle of Mithras. We'll have to see....
