In Loving Memory of Lacey Azalia Francais (01/11/92-06/30/05
Lacey, I will miss you so much. I loved you more than you will ever know. I named you the day I got you. I gave you 2 middle names Azalia Francais. So, you would sound more cajun. Well, the Francais part.
You were so smart. You knew every dog in the neighborhood by name. Your boyfriend; Buster is so sad. I miss you tossing your bone in the air. I will miss sleeping with you. And seeing you run with the rag over your head pretending you were a ghost. And barking when you could not get it off. You always had to be in the center of attention. Such a little show off.
Rest in peace, Lacey. I love you and no other dog will ever take your place. Until we meet again, my dear friend.

Cajungal,
Relationships and memories do not end with the passing of a friend.
Our dog Sasha...the only sister our two sons ever had, was laid to rest 4 years ago in July. She was a friend at every time and gave more than she ever received.
During her last years, she would be sitting patiently, yet about to explode off her hind feet, when I opened the back door and came home from work. She sat virtually on the same tile, the same place, and with the same enthusiasm each and every day.
In her honor we have a wonderful photo above that spot on the wall...of her looking out the window and waiting for us to come home.
Sometimes I still say hello to her out loud.
...and sometimes, just sometimes, I'd swear I can hear her nails digging in across the tile in a race to say hello.
We miss her as you will miss your friend. But she will never really be gone.
Take care. She was a lucky girl to have you.

I was faced with a similar situation years ago with my 20 year old cat. She was raised with me..we were inseparable the whole time we had her. She was very active till she was about 17. She gradually started slowing down and in her last few weeks the only walking she did was too her food dish and to her litter box. She started looking like she was in pain and became very lethargic; the vet determined she had kidney failure, which is enevitably fatal in cats especially the older ones. Well we took her home and she seemed to perk up a little and actually wanted to go outside and play in the yard. A few days after the vet visit I let her out..never saw her again. A couple of kids found her in the field behind my house dead. They were kind enough to bury her and after canvassing the neighborhood and seeing a picture of my cat we concluded it was her. I swear she knew the end was near and decided to go off by herself and die rather than have me or dad find her dead in the house or yard..or have to take her on that last ride to the vet. We had already decided to euthanize her if she got any worse. I still miss that cat to this day...and its been 17 years

I have a story of my own..
Dagwood was a dog I cherished and adored. He was my best friend since I was about 7.. But passed away in 2001.
As his years dragged on, he grew old, went from jumpy and sparky to waddle and almost limping even when I walked him 3x a day.
Well.. On my X-Mas vacation in 2001, 1 night I had left the window open for my outdoor cat, Max. Dagwood when I was asleep, ran away.. but a neighbor found him and brought him back. However.. 2 nights later.. he ran away and died.
On Christmas Eve of '01.. I had called our local animal control to see if they had found my dog.. Well.. they replied.. "Yes we have.. but we have some bad news for you.. when we found him.. He was laying under a tree asleep, but he was stiff as a board".
He ran approx. 6 blocks from home to die.. It still hurts when I walk the trails him and I used to walk. Losing a pet hurts as bad as losing a person. That was 1 Christmas present I certainly wanted returned {the dead dog} but obviously could not..

That was beautiful memorial. Thank you for sharing her with us. I am sorry for your loss.
Please do take care of yourself and if you need to talk we are all here for you. I think all of us have lost a very special someone and know how it feels, how empty your heart feels right now, but it will be okay, when you are ready for it to be.

I was leaving work today. And as I got in the parking lot headed to my car, I heard barking. I turned around. And there was a Yorkie in somebody's van with their owner. With its little head poking at the window! It reminded me of my little Lacey! She LOVED going ride in the car. And she used to stick her little head out the window and bark too. I had to choke back the tears. She once slept at my place of employment with me (Sears.) It was after hurricane Andrew, we were waiting for a generator. Even though I was not working anywhere then. I was still in high school.

You know, when I had to have my cat Derby put to sleep almost 2 years ago, I had two experiences within a week after he died that I believe were messages from him saying he was happy and at peace. I posted the stories here. I am totally convinced that my Derby was telling me that he was with my grandmother and she was spoiling him and that he loved me and was at peace. I TRULY BELIEVE that little Lacey did the same thing for you today! (((HUGS))).

I am really grieving over my dog even harder now. I find it is harder as the months go by. I really want another one. But, almost all the breeders and pet store want at least $800 or more for one. I don't have that kind of money right now. I was still in high school when we got Lacey and my parents paid $400 dollars for her at the pet store. Prices went like sky rocket for Yorkies now. If anyone of you has a female Yorkie puppy that you will be selling at a reasonable price, please PM me on here. I know getting it to my house may be a problem. But, there are lots of storm2kers on here from Louisiana, maybe someone can help me out.

The Houston SPCA has literally hundreds of homeless dogs from both Katrina and Rita. Here is their website http://www.spcahouston.org/spcahouston/default.asp
Maybe you can find something through them. I know they are far from you, but I'm not sure there are any shelters even functioning near you. Well, actually have you checked out the Baton Rouge shelters?
