We know CALVIN, but is also DORA on the way?

This is the general tropical discussion area. Anyone can take their shot at predicting a storms path.

The EPAC is having a great time right now and storms seem to be popping everywhere.

That is normal for the Eastern Pacific. I agree Dora could develop from that area of convection/banding outflow to the southeast. It has enough model support to watch.

"D" Storms Over the last 10 yrs.

'95 Dalila July 24 - Aug 2
'96 Douglas July 29 - Aug 6
'97 Dolores July 6 - 12
'98 Darby July 28 - 31
'99 Dora Aug 6 - 20
'00 Daniel July 23 - Aug 4
'01 Dalila July 21 - 28
'02 Douglas July 20 - 26
'03 July 6 - 8
'04 July 26 - Aug 1

Thereafter, if Dora forms before July 6, then it will be the earliest the "D" storm has formed in the EPAC at least in the last 10 yrs.

1994...Tropical storm Daniel, 8-14 July
1993...Hurricane Dora cat4, 14-20 of July
1992....Hurricane Darby 1992, 2 to 10 of July
1991...Hurricane Delores, 22-28 July
1990...Tropical storm Douglas, 19-23 June!!!
1989...Hurricane Dalilia, 11-21 July
1988...Tropical storm Daniel, 19-26 July
1987...Tropical storm Dora, 15-20 July
1986...Tropical storm Darby, 3-7 July
1985...Hurricane Dolores, 26 June to 5 July

But all the seasons that had a C or even a D storm before this date where mostly big. Atlantic is going to have to work hard.

But all the seasons that had a C or even a D storm before this date where mostly big. Atlantic is going to have to work hard.

Also I'm not saying there will be but if there where to be one...

Scorpion, The Eastern Pacific seasons a month ahead of the Atlantic. So expect the Atlatnic to try. But as you can see maybe not so Easily.

Man, if the EPAC goes up 4-1, that's just gonna stink. :grr:

The ATL needs to get someone warming in the bullpen! :D

People, how many times does this need to be said? IT'S JUNE.

There is no El Nino....the EPAC is ALWAYS more active this time of year than the Atlantic. Forgot about last year much? Didn't have Alex til August, and look what happened. Yes, I know I'm sounding like a broken record by saying that over and over again ad nauseum.

And Scorpion, you're allowed to have your own opinion, I respect that. But your location suggests that you got hit by Frances and Jeanne....and you wanna go through something that nasty again? Maybe there's something I'm missing, but I just cannot understand that argument.

Lastly, I do think Calvin will form, but I'm not ready to say that we'll have Dora anytime soon.
