10:30 TWO: Surface Low Forms!

Looks weaker this evening than earlier today. Convection really diminishing as of 10:30pm CDT. Just plotted ship/buoy/sfc reports in the region and don't see much there.

yea i agree hurricanefreak...over here near the coast we havnt had any real good action since floyd either...i think we had that one small system last season...but it was such a pathetic storm...it really irritated me...i had multiple friends and other families who had just moved here... so now they have the impression that hurricanes are really nothing more than a bunch of talk since the one they went through last season was such a pathetic storm......

Seems radar/sfc reports show another weak low near Key West Fl.

Ive looked at Water Vapor and the ULL seems to be parked over the Extreme Northeast GOM. However, that looks like some kind of weak surface circulation that may have formed.

I'm definately looking forward to a recon report to see if we will have Bret to track. IT doesnt look promising but we have been surprised more then once. I'm not betting the bank on it though!

3 out of 4 Brets have formed in August.

Brets are not a category of tropical cyclones. They are just names.

Brets name was used on 4 tropical cyclones in the History of the Atlantic. The strongest was hurricane Bret of 1999. Also the only hurricane.

Here are a couple of new images. I have a 00Z surface plot (not many ship reports at 03Z) and a 4Z satellite. As you can see, the lowest pressure is near the northern Bahamas - well-removed from any convection. Convection is just about gone tonight. This thing won't likely do anything before it moves ashore.

The storm doesn't care what you call it. If you're talking trivia, sure. If its used as any indicator as to what this system will do, I think that doesn't follow.
