Allstate canceled me! Can anybody recommend a good homeowner's insurance company. Allstate & Statefarm are not writing policies in my area!

I was canceled by Allstate a few years ago due to Hurricane risk factors here in S. FL. After days of research, I found a comparable company called "Florida Preferred" Insurance. They had rates similar to Allstate and much better than Citizens of course!. Good luck with your search.

I use Nationwide. After Hurricane Ivan...they were here within about 3 weeks...walked inside the house, looked at the roof..etc. After the inspection, the adjuster sat in his car for about 30 minutes..walked in the door with a check in his hand. Wouldn't trade companies for the world. :)

Wow, sunnythoughts, that's really good! I have Allstate, and I had to wait until right before Christmas before I got any money at all.

Since we're on the subject, we have citizens and our policy increased 42% this year. Citizens is the only one that would insure us, so I guess we should just be thankful that we are covered...

You may want to look in the Hurricane Preparedness forum, there may
be some good information in there.
