Tropical Weather Outlook

Statement as of 5:30 PM EDT on June 22, 2005

For the North Atlantic...Caribbean Sea and the Gulf of Mexico...
A vigorous tropical wave is producing cloudiness...and scattered
showers and thunderstorms over the central Caribbean Sea and
adjacent land areas. While upper-level winds are somewhat favorable
for development...there are currently no signs of a surface
circulation...and upper-level winds are expected to become less
favorable in another day or so. However...this system could still
bring locally heavy rainfall and potentially deadly mud slides to
portions of Hispaniola tonight and Thursday as the system moves
west-northwestward at about 10 mph.

An upper-level low interacting with a weak non-tropical surface low
pressure area is producing widespread cloudiness and rain...along
with scattered embedded thunderstorms...over much of the
southeastern Gulf of Mexico...the Florida Peninsula...the Florida
Keys...and the Florida Straits. However...upper-level winds are
extremely unfavorable for tropical cyclone development to occur.
Elsewhere...tropical storm formation is not expected through
Thursday.

I see no development for 94L into even a tropical depression. But we'll see.

Oh I have some backbone....and I'm not afraid to voice my opinion if I don't think something is going to develop.

Don't get me wrong, it does look vigorous....for the time being. But I agree the shear will weaken this thing before it can develop into anything major.

Re-read what you first wrote Andrew "I see no development for 94L into even a tropical depression. But we'll see. " It's the second sentence where you contradict the first LOL. I'm really only breaking chops here 8-)

Yeah, as in saying "we'll see what happens as time goes on." That's what I meant by the second sentence. The first one, I stand by my statement that I don't think anything will develop out of it.

I don't see how my two sentences contradict each other, but if you do, that's fine too. Maybe I just worded them wrong....that's all I can figure. I have a prediction, I stand by it, but make my own disclaimer that I could be wrong.
