I hope the person was at least a newbie. It would be sad to see someone who was here for a long time be that moronic. How do people think they can get away with this sort of stuff?

Not to mention how pointless it is to make it so others cannot gain access to a site. Wow, you can send lots of packets to storm2k and clog up their bandwidth. What a true mastermind.

We blocked the person's normal IP address from Comcast but they reregistered under an AOL account. Once I approved the account they switched to an open proxy to post their garbage. We currently have a mod installed on the board that won't let users register using an open proxy so we at least got the AOL address. I'm in the process of reporting it to AOL now. Even though it was dial-up, AOL can trace the IP address to find out who it was assigned to at that time.

I'm afraid we can't say because of the on-going investigation and possible legal actions. Unfortunately it was a member who had been with us for almost 2 years.

I was on board this morning when this idiot was posting. There was language that would make a sailor blush with shame. I know we have a lot of real young posters and hate they was subjected to such filth. I also would like to make a plea... If you see where an idiot has posted a foul language post, please don't comment on it. This will only make the idiot mad and they will rip you to pieces. They can rip you to pieces because they can say anything they want to without worrying about the consequences, because they don't care. This actually happened this morning to one of our members. MODs please don't take this the wrong way because you can't be here 24-7.

With all due respect to everyone that became unfortunate enough to wittness what was going on, I strongly disagree with not reponding to such an attack. I think the respondent acted in a very proper manner and did not get baited by the aggressor of the posts.

This is a two fold opinion. First and foremost, by not responding to such a verbal attack on anyones character or Personal shortcomings, whether they be cerebral or physical, implies a sort of acceptance and the attacker gets the impression that they have Won. Not to mention the feeling that the person under fire may be left with by not responding. We must stand up to these kinds of people and let them know that their behavior is unacceptable....

Secondly, in the act of standing up for ones self in a rational response with replies to an attack, not only develops the personal strength in character of the one under attack, but the aggressor continues to tie their own noose, eventually hanging themselves out to dry. They provide their own demise in the conversation that continues through their own misguided attempts to justify a twisted opinion with multiple posts of that sort.

Emotions can ride high when the venue is the written word, and an individuals sense of understanding lays dormant....

I understand what you are saying and it makes sense. However, that is battle you can't "win" when your going to a gun fight with a stick. What I mean is, it is no holes barred for the idiot, while you have to watch what you say. This also makes the idiot continue posting more filth because you give him/her more ammunition. It is clearly a battle you can't win, as observed yesterday. again, I understand your point I just disagree with you.

No poster on this board should ever be attacked by another. I know the mods do their very best. The best thing we can do is TRY--no matter how difficult to realize there are tacky people everywhere and don't take it personally. To the member attacked--I did not see the attach but hang in there--we are with you.
