Any possibility that it is a planned outage. This seems to have happened when Arlene was coming together as well. Not conspiratorial just necessary to check and streamline equipment?

There's a perfect example for value-added weather services.
If Rick Insantorum and his Accuweather cronies want to make
money, they can do like everyone else and make something
better than what the government offers. Trying to take control
of the NWS, HECK NO! SANOTORUM HAS GOT TO GO!!!!!!

its a stretch to say they are always down. nbc6 has great radar in miami(i-75 in miramar if you care to see it) and the other stations are awful compared to nws unles they aren't publishing the good stuff to the web. i have spent alot of time over the years looking at nws sites as trop sytems were coming in and they were very effective.

TV station's radar don't have the power that the NWS does. Plus I don't think they can scan all layers of the atmosphere. Not sure if they even have all the products that NWS does.

Same thing happened last year at this time with the Miami radar. The Radar was down for the better part of June and parts of July.
