15 N/65 W would put it well north of that area of convection crossing the islands which looks like an open wave.

The last time I can say with certainty that I saw a quote like that was August '97. It seems to me that I have seen at some point since, but I can't pin down a possible time period.
And no, that phrase certainly has not been seen in the past two years

Actually, the last time that phrase was used was 2002. From August 9th to August 29 there was a null period.
Maybe 2000 is what I'm thinking... That was the year of the sheared system.
