Makes you wonder how many baby boys will be named either Ivan or Charley! Personally I wouldn't go with Ivan.....that's a terrible name for a baby!!! But you know someone's going to name their baby after one of these hurricanes.

Charley is a good name. The LEY makes it all the more scary in the world of hurricane names. makes you try to think of which storm could match up with these...

I know three girls named Camille down here. :D

I've got a little cousin that is an Ivan baby, born during Arlene - both events in Fairhope, AL.

I suggested Ivana Arlene for a name, that got shot down fast.

HEHE
I luv this story :)

WIFE: Honey... I heard on the portable radio that we could be without electric for 3 weeks!! What are we going to do! *looks unhappy*

Husband: Don't worry dear, I'm sure we'll figure it out! *grins evilly*

Ten Months Later at 2AM:

Husband: Dear, the baby is crying. *looks sleepily unhappy*

Wife: It's your turn to go check on him. Don't worry honey, I'm sure you can figure it out! *grins evilly*

Yeah, we had a baby boom after Frances. There was a baby boom after the New York blackout in '77. What else are you gonna do with the lights out? There's just so many games of Scrabble you can play.

Yup I suppose there's only so much to do with the power out and the kids asleep. Haha... That is pretty amusing.

Ivan Babies: 9 Months After the Storm
By Cynthia Reeves
creeves@sbgnet.com

This week marks nine months since Hurricane Ivan hit, and some small gifts from those long nights without power are beginning to show up.
As Cynthia Reeves reports, some local hospitals and doctors are reporting a spike in births.
No his name is not Ivan.
It is Esher.
He's two weeks old.
He came into the world a couple of weeks early during Tropical Storm Arlene, but he was concieved nine months ago, just after Hurricane Ivan.

Lee Lucier & Heather Minnich/Parents:
"Something good came out of that old hurricane!"

Esher has two sisters, not much older than him, three years old and 14 months, but Mom and Dad, Heather Minnick and Lee Lucier say their little surpise has been God's gift to them during a difficult time..
Ivan filled their home with about four feet of water.
It is still being repaired.
They had to evacuate during the storm and were seperated, but were finally reunited... staying at a friend's house.

Lee Lucier & Heather Minnich/Parents:
"Everything was against us at that point. Our house was basically gone. We lost our wedding pictures. Our kids weren't here and it was all our friends were dealing with the same issue so they couldn't really be there for us. It was kind of he and I and it rekindled our realtionship. It was more, you and me kid, you know, and it kind of made us stronger as a couple and so.. Or crazier! Or crazier!"
Crazy maybe, but Doctor Lisa Tucker has about 30 patients with similar stories.
That's double the number of pregnacies she's normally have this time of year.
She keeps a Wall of Fame to show off birth announcements.
She'll have to add another wall to include all the Ivan babies.
Dr. Lisa Tucker/Obstetrician:
"We had a curfew. We had no power. I will say though it was hot though.. laugh.. I mean that's the only thing I can say..that it was just very, very warm, but a lot of people say what else do we have to do?"
Esher's parents will never forget those frightening days of uncertainly after the storm, but now they also have a sweet reminder of the quiet candlelight dinners.

Lee Lucier & Heather Minnich/Parents:
"Something good. Something good. We, you're going to make me cry, in our announcement we said that Ivan did bring us something good and that was him and that was nice. So we can say it was like a new beginning."
