Just add seasoning to your flavor.

Mais oui, I mean to tell you IS HOT cher!  <--that ain't tears bro', dat's SWEAT! 94 degrees on the backyard thermometer at 3 o'clock.

As the air temps heat up, so does that big bathtub to our south.

BTW, I was having some problems opening the link...here's an alternate... http://www.ndbc.noaa.gov/Maps/WestGulf_inset.shtml

New Orleans and SW FL/Everglades are the most oppresively hot/humid place I've ever been.

I had to drive to New Orleans two Christmases ago and the temperature being around the mid to upper 30s here on the Mississippi Coast was 56-58 in the "bowl". There were no fronts in between and it was a clear, starry night.

Yep New Orleans is by far the warmest location in the state. They rarely get below freezing during the winters and I've seen banana plants survive year round down there, something unheard of in these parts...

It is HOT today but there's a nice severe thunderstorm backdooring in from Iberia parish right now and it's much cooler outside.

I'm concerned about the GOM SST's - they are really warm, and when
a system gets in the gulf without shear/dry air, it's gonna bomb.

We were just talking about that today at work... Does anyone have the information on what the temperatures and water temps were in 1969 right before Camille formed?

Speaking of water temps, I went fishing yesterday in the Bayou DesAllemands area, and I stuck my hand in the water. It felt like bathwater. Seriously, my friend and I were suprised. I have NEVER seen the water that hot.

At 8:00 pm CDT, the water temp at Grand Isle was 91.0 degrees and at Marsh Island it was 90.1 degrees. The water temp will drop several degrees tonight I'm sure, but won't go below 86 or 87 degrees at Grand Isle. At Bayou Labranche, near Lake Pontchartrain, the water temp is 96 degrees. Of course, you gotta figure that water is going to be exceptionally warm because it's shallow and inland. I've seen the water temp at Grand Isle get to 90 degrees before, but I can't remember it doing so this early. It's not even "summer" yet

Just think as the tropical storm is moving closer to land it tightens up + Super hot water. Can you see a very slow moving tropical storm bombing into a cat2 or 3 hurricane under 6 hours?

The energy certainly would be there Matt. And btw,
I find you much more entertaining to read these days
than your stints as Isaroni and Paloma. LOL. I'm sure
you still laugh at that stuff too.

tailgater,

If you don't have the link to the Super Hi-Res, I'll post it below. There's the OTIS model (low-res global), the High-Res (cartoonish) and the Super High Res. Here are the links for the High-Res and Super High Res. Also, to answer your question they change the scale as the water warms up. Dark Orange is 70's when the scale is lower. It could be 80, 90 or 100. You just have to follow the key as it changes through summer.

Hot!

#18 Postby bevgo » Thu Jun 16, 2005 12:18 pm

Water temps are really up there. The pool here at my apartment feels like a warm bath. The gulf water is also really warm when you stick your toes in it. Of course where you stick your toes in it is really shallow--LOL
Hope ir does not get too much hotter cause we could be in for a world of trouble if a storm comes this way.

Yup, completely agree. There will be a monster this year, some time, for sure.
