Bastardi does seem to be the Houdini of Hurricanes. He certainly has a way of knowing these things. I have been concerned too about water temps in the Gulf, if all conditions are ripe for development we could see a system absolutely bomb out there. I'm going to watch the Yahoo video if I find out any additional information Steve, I will post it!

Steve,

I went to the link you had posted and they document has been moved. When I searched for Bastardi in the Yahoo news search all I came with was an article about him and his passion for bobybuilding and the simularities between bodybuilding and meterology... Hmmmm.... Who knew? Apparently, Accuweather found the high jacked Bastardi video and made Yahoo take it off?? I would have loved to have seen it! Heres hoping some of the other post members were able to see it and will fill us in on the details.

HAGD!!!

I just watched it on the Yahoo site and he basically showed some of his analog years and focused on how much activity took place in the Gulf. I think 2 of the years he showed was 1995, and 1998. His highest threat zone was from SE LA over to Panama City. LA was also high, and so was SE FL. He really didnt go into much detail though. He says this season is going to be an interesting one. He also believes there may be a storm that hits SE FL then crosses into the gulf and makes a second landfall. (George, Erin, Andrew?) Thats about the jist of things.

(Betsy?) Twice hurricanes have made landfalls in south Florida with second landfall in Louisiana. Betsy and Andrew. I am going to start posting more. I am trying to reach Tropical Storm Status before the season is up.

Hahaha Cajungal, I'm still trying to become a tropical low... How many seasons do you think it will take us to catch up with Brent?

It makes me laugh how some seasons simply aren't "Gulf seasons."

1984, For example:

And then there's years like, oh...

2000:

If you go to the link, it will say document moved. Don't leave, scroll down to about half way down the page and it will have "more helpful links". Click on weather video and then a list will come up. Select Joe Bastardi's Tropical outlook for Thursday. Works.

Very interesting video. Bastardi is quite convincing...It doesn't look good for the Gulf States this year. :(

JB is rather long winded. I looked at his video. Quite interesting. I do hope he is incorrect about the gulf states as I live in coastal MS. Unfortunately I understand he has a pretty good record. As I said --Interesting. We shoulod watch to see if his idea for next week is on target. 8-)

Don't forget the 1947 Hurricane which a track today would be the worst case scenario for the Greater New Orleans area.

Alot of respect for Joe, but not a risky call saying high probability for "La - Fl" and "SE Fl"!

Ouch. If I was alive in 1888, that track would be directly over my house.
