Last year during Ivan there was someone that had a tracking map that showed Ivan going up and turning back down the Atlantic and coming back in again....which is precisely what it did. Made a big circle of sorts. I remember alot of people thinking, "yeah right"...myself---I laughed. WRONG!
I didn't even realize it till it was almost to Texas (I think) because most us of here still had no power and no time really to listen to weather reports. I remember sitting outside, stuck at work, the wind blowing, and we were talking about Ivan coming back. Thing was, the winds we were feeling were from that crazy storm! But we didn't know it!
So does anyone remember who put that tracking map out? That's who I'm sticking with this year. Or let's just say whoever it was will be getting my utmost attention...
Thanks and peace.

Yep that was something. We had quite the fuss on here about it, some would say this is Ivan others this is just a piece of energy off Ivan. Hurricane center made it official as I recall and said that this was indeed Ivans return. LOL . Your right, I would like to know who brought up that possibility first. I remember thinking just that, here comes Ivan again and hopefully he won't regain his strength and hit them again because most would be unaware of any danger. Just one of those wierd things that happen.

This does have a map, however there may be a better one on the sight. This is the NHC'c report on Ivan by Stacey Stewart. Good Read.

I don't remember who put out that map, but Bastardi was the one initially (going back to around original landfall) who said it was coming off and looping back down again. The support (and my memory is a bit hazy) was from the UK Met which was pretty dead on about the pattern evolution. There might have been additional support from another model as well, but that's the best I can remember. A lot of people, and many I respect as well, argued that there was no way it was coming back to the Gulf again. /surprise
