Picture - Hwy 98 just outside of Destin

#1 Postby IrishRose » Sat Jun 11, 2005 11:37 am

Here is a picture taken from the side of the road on Hwy 98W just before the Destin Bridge. Looks like the water might come over Hwy 98 before this is over with! It's very near the road now.

Thanks for that pic Irishrose, hoping hwy 98 over Okaloosa island remains intact as the wife works in Ft. Walton and uses it everyday through the week.

The water is up to Scenic 98 here in South Walton in Miramar Bch.

I hope it does...I use it every day to go to work. The water was very close though...the picture was taken from our truck sitting on the side of the road.

That picture was awesome. I live in Ft. Walton Beach and the winds have been whipping the trees around, but so far have not noticed too much rain at all, it may come later.

Thanks FloridaGirl! It's really windy here, but not much rain in the last few hours.

Ver nice, IrishRose. You guys are definately in an area where the seas will be very rough. You are getting the strongest damming effect since all of the large scale ocean forcing is pounding that area. :) Enjoy!

For those keeping an eye on Destin/Ft. Walton beaches, this live cam is still working: http://www.pcsfla.com/cam.htm

Usually, about 200 yards of beach can be seen between the cam and surf.

Do you know where 182 is closed? West Beach area? Near Gulf State Park? Or at "The Hangout"-- intersection with 59? If it's the latter, all those folks partying at the Pink Pony are stuck!

It is around Little Lagoon. I do believe the folks at the Pink Pony are stuck due to washing out of the roadway. My ABC buddies are stuck too!
