Convective burst?

#1 Postby James » Sat Jun 11, 2005 4:06 am

It seems like there is a burst of convection going on not too far from the centre. Could this be the scenario that the discussion was talking about?

Probably. We'll just have to see the next few hours how significant this burst will be.

Certainly looks that way. Will it be over the center this time?

Wow look at this satellite. That convection is forming right over the LLC. The radar shows a half closed eye!!! The landfall I think will be close to Mobile.

Interesting, it would seem that Arlene is trying her best to make a recovery before landfall. It's gonna be close.

I can't believe it Arlene appears to have a central core finally. Meaning she gots everything going around one center. The banding is looking good. In if this area of convection keeps building it will become a cdo. A eye could even close off.

I'm enjoying my crow.

Either way, It's getting might breezy here in ol Mobile. Startin to get our first sign of rain also. Blowing roughly out of the NE around 15-20 with gusts to around 25-30, and it's still very early in the ballgame
We shall see

It has grown larger. If it stays for another hour or so it could very well be a CDO. Lets see if that eye wents to poke out when its making landfall.

Looks like cloud tops are warming somewhat.

Yes, it does a bit. If it persists for a little bit it can at least allow Arlene to maintain her current intensity perhaps.

It appears that the whole storm has wraped into one center. This baby is alot more oregnized the most it has been in its life. If convection keeps on forming then this thing will make me eat crow(Hurricane) I don't really see any signs of warming in the clouds just spreading.

 WEEBLE-WABBLE-WEEBLE-WABBLE

Looking @ the IR, I can see the NW movement, but I just
checked out the radar out of Mobile. It APPEARS to show
that darn WNW movement again.

I'm so confused that my brain is starting to wobble.

Looking at satellite loops it appears that for the first time in its life it looks like a strong tropical storm.
